On November 23, Deng Yan, Party group secretary and president of Dalian Maritime Court visited Haikou Maritime Court for research on issues such as providing maritime judicial services for the construction of free trade port, building business environment, improving trial management, and building the litigation service center. The visitors were accompanied by Xu Yahui, Party group secretary and president of the court.

Visitors were shown around the litigation service center, the internet court, history center, the first courtroom and C4 Command Centre of Haikou Maritime Court to learn about the litigation services for foreign-related cases, the diversified dispute resolution platform, the information integration system and the court’s cultural development.

A discussion was held to invite in-depth exchanges. President Xu Yahui extended warm welcome to President Deng and her team and thanked visitors for the valuable insight on their practice in IT application and adjudication management. Xu introduced the strategic position, working guideline, development method and objective of the court against the backdrop of the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. Vice president Wang Yang also briefed the work of the court from six perspectives such as strengthening political stance, safeguarding the rights and interests of the South China Sea, and building an excellent business environment.

Further discussion covered various issues such as the performance index setting for trial quality and efficiency, trial management measures, operation of judges’ panel, protection of marine ecological environment, and coordination with other competent authorities.

Haikou Maritime Court and Dalian Maritime Court were brother courts on good terms and this exchange had brought the two courts closer, said President Deng Yan. She was impressed by Haikou Maritime Court for its high stance in serving the overall situation of the country with new thinking, the solid work it had done, and its vigorous teams.

Both courts wished for further exchanges and cooperation for a common goal of serving the overall situation, strengthening trial management, protecting the marine ecology and promoting cultural progress in both courts, so as to achieve common development and win-win outcome and play the role of maritime justice at a higher level.
