On the morning of 17 August, Haikou Maritime Court participated in the test and demonstration of the national people’s courts’ service platform, which was carried out under the command of the Supreme People’s Court with the coordination offered by the Higher People’s Court of Hainan Province. The test specialists from the Litigation Service Centre and Technical Section of Haikou Maritime Court operated the platform to send digital test documents to Beijing Integrated Service Centre. Beijing Office of China Post would then provide the one-stop services including printing, enveloping, post and delivery.
Service is an important step in the process of case trial. It supports people’s courts’ fair trial of cases and offers timely protection of litigants’ lawful rights and interests. The remote printing and enveloping of legal documents free courts from trivial auxiliary matters and preserve their limited trial capacity. This mode provides easier access to data and effectively facilitates the circulation of documents, shortening the circulation cycle by 2-3 days compared to traditional service by post. Accordingly, judges will have more time and energy to focus on trying cases with better quality and efficiency, in turn providing better judicial services for litigants.
In the test and demonstration, Haikou Maritime Court actively utilized the “Integrated Printing, Post and Service in Destination” function of the people’s courts’ service platform sponsored by the Supreme People’s Court. The test has been successful and the court will be able to use the platform, which will facilitate litigation and provide better technical support for the building of Hainan’s free trade port.
