On the afternoon of 7 August, Haikou Maritime Court held a meeting to study and supervise the court’s trial and enforcement works completed from January to July in 2020. At the meeting, the court summarized and analyzed the progress and existing problems of the works from January to July, and made arrangements for the works and tasks at the next stage. Delegated by Xu Yahui, the secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group and president of the court, Jian Wancheng, member of the Leading Party Members’ Group and vice-president of the court, presided over the meeting and gave a speech. Participants included the division heads of the court.

At the meeting, a general report was made over the works regarding the trial, research, Party building, innovation and publicity of the whole court from January to July 2020. Vice president Jian Wancheng commented on the works in respect of case filing, trial and enforcement, and subsequently made arrangements for the works of the divisions at the next stage from the following five aspects.

1. All divisions shall carefully sort out and summarize the works completed from January to July by referring to the work requirements and annual assessment criteria set out by the superiors, make deep analysis on the works, check for omissions and be problem-oriented so as to identify the focus and direction of the works at the next stage and underline the highlights of the works and innovative initiatives.

2. Heads of the divisions shall pay close attention to the implementation of “one post with two responsibilities” (management responsibilities in respect of professional service and Party matters), fully understand the progress of the works of their respective division at all aspects, regularly give audience to inferiors for work report, timely urge and facilitate the work progress, so as to perform their duties of supervision and management of the divisions.

3. All divisions shall clear up the long-pending cases with strong sense of responsibility and mission, strengthen the supervision and management of long-pending cases, seriously investigate and deal with problems such as lack of responsibility and delay in handling case, and close the cases for which the closure conditions are satisfied as soon as possible.

4. All divisions shall pay great attention to trial research, be well aware of the importance of trial research in providing judicial protection for the development of the free trade port, closely follow the actual working situation, clarify the working progress, speed up the pace of trial research and ensure steady advance of the trial research as per the predetermined plan.

5. All divisions shall adapt to changes in the scope of case acceptance, consolidate knowledge reserves, and enhance the building of professional trial team. Each judge shall actively improve his/her capacity and level of professional trials, and be well prepared for hearing administrative and criminal cases.
