On 23 June, Haikou Maritime Court launched a drug prevention campaign and provided legal support in Baoban Village, Wanchong Town, Ledong County, designated beneficiary of the court’s outreach activities. The purpose of the campaign was to further increase public knowledge of illicit drugs, promote anti-drug ideology and policies, and raise the villagers’ awareness of drug abuse prevention.
Court and resident officials pasted up posters, set up a promotion stand, and gave out publicity manuals in the village committee office. Through these efforts, they helped the villagers understand how to better protect themselves from illicit drugs, raised their awareness of drug prevention, and enhanced their understanding of anti-drug laws. Villagers were urged to take the initiative to reject and stay away from illicit drugs.
During the campaign, the court officials also visited some villagers to learn about their production and living conditions. They explained to the villagers the types and harmful effects of illicit drugs, and shared knowledge about means to protect themselves and their family from illicit drugs in their daily lives. This further raised the villagers’ awareness of drug prevention, healthy living, and the risk of poverty caused by drug abuse.
Throughout the day, the court distributed 300 some publicity materials about anti-drug cases, drug-related laws and regulations, farming knowledge, and stories about historic Chinese figures. Through this campaign, the villagers became more aware of illicit drug prevention and further embraced the rule of law, with better understanding of, compliance with and reference to law.
