On the morning of 20 February 2017, a delegation of 10 visited our court to assess the quality of cases we handled in 2016. Among the team were Zhang Bozhen, member of special committee from the Higher People’s Court of the province, Wang Zhongxue, director of Rail Transportation Division, and Huang Weiguo, deputy director of the Second Criminal Division.

Zhang Bozhen pointed out that 2016 was a critical year for our comprehensive provincial reform of the judicial system. The Leading Party Members’ Group of the Higher People’s Court of the province decided to assess the quality of cases handled by all courts across the province. This campaign aimed to come up with an objective assessment of case quality and trial effectiveness of courts throughout the year. It would help sum up experience and spot problems for future improvements, so that courts in Hainan province would achieve more in their hearing and enforcement practices. From today on, the third assessment delegation plans to spend two days in fully assessing the cases handled by our court.

Jian Wancheng, vice president, warmly welcomed the delegation on behalf of the Leading Party Members’ Group of the court, and gave a brief introduction of the overall quality of cases handled by us in 2016. He stressed that the assessment program showed guidance and care for our hearing and enforcement works, and we attached great importance to it. The assessment delegation was urged to give more valuable advice on any problems in our practices.
